Six

A few years ago, one of my cousin's little girls spotted a wedding picture of Tax Man and I and in her most serious six-year-old voice asked,"Is he your prince charming?" It was such a sweet question coming from her innocent mouth, but this weekend, as we marked our sixth anniversary, I can't help but think our life has been a bit fairytale-ish thus far {minus the grand castle and servants at our beck-and-call}.

The Cliff Notes version....

Summer 2000, that boy took that girl to Aspen, Colorado for his family's summer vacation {we were the ripe age of of 20 and had been dating for little more than a year at this point}. At some juncture of the trip, he whisked me {capri pants, tennis shoes and all} away to nervously present me with his fraternity letters. Like any good Southern college coed, I proudly wore that lavalier for the reminder of school days. {Honey, did you really think giving me that KA charm would lead to this?!?}.:

I already look the part of soccer mom there, don't I? In my defense, we were hiking...
Fast forward to August 2004. Prince Charming-in-training took me to a particularly beautiful pink castle:
And because he had already made me wait more than five years for The Proposal, the moment it came was a shock.

And so, the date was set. On September 3, 2005, he put on his finest suit:

And I wore a white dress:

We met at the alter:

And sealed it with a kiss:

We celebrated with 300 of our closest family and friends:

And took a lovely honeymoon abroad:

June 16, 2008, God gave us the best gift ever - a daily reminder of how much her daddy and I love one another:
And this weekend, we marked our anniversary alongside dear friends {in a wonderful restaurant, no matter how overpriced you boys thought it was}:

We're looking forward to heading back to that pink castle for a little "just the two of us" getaway in a few weeks...so we can continue living this happily ever after.

Tax Man, the journey thus far has been beyond amazing; I'm grateful to have you always by my side:

And, no matter where our walk takes us, I hope that in 60 years, we are still dancing together as happily as your Aunt Gloria and Uncle Maurice did at our own wedding:

I'll be soon back with photos from the rainy Labor Day weekend getaway....

Well, I was about to hop off my computer & get some work done before tomorrow, but then this got me sucked in & then made me start crying!! Happy Anniversary...love you both!

P.S. I completely remember when you received that lavalier...I was 10, & thought that was the coolest thing. And remember thinking that was just as important of a commitment as people who were engaged! ;-)
