These two 'favorite things' are among the discoveries I'm curating {in my brain} as they help fulfill our little one's curiosity and they are both worth sharing for other mommy friends. At nearly four, she is as curious as a cat - one that talks, a lot - asking and learning, asking and learning. And so, her GiGi's Christmas gift to her - a three-month subscription to Kiwi Crate has been perfect for fulfilling her artistic, eager appetite.
The boxes arrive each month with a multitude of themed art/craft/science projects for curious minds to discover. They are wonderful to work on together, though our little Picasso is quite a perfectionist, so we've learned to allow her plenty of time to complete the painting/coloring portion of any project. {As in, her teachers have learned to start her first in the art center, and she is typically still the last... the art is in the details for her!}. Last week, we talked about pirates and their treasures - decorating a small wooden pirate chest, filling it with treasure, hiding it and drawing a map for daddy to use to find the treasure. Every single component for the project was included in the box. The second project in the pirate theme is waiting for us to tackle - the pirate's eye patch. We also decorated a 'polly want a cracker' parrot with feathers. I highly recommend Kiwi Crate for summer activities... and I was lucky enough to catch a special deal on the Mini Social a month or so ago, and so we were able to give this to a friend for a birthday gift {a bit pricey for normal birthday presents, but if you happen to catch on a deal site, it is perfect!}.
My second share is bragging on my good friend, Amanda, and her new venture with business partner, Marcy - Simply Sprout. Amazing educators in our local school system, Amanda and Marcy have identified a need for hands-on creative activities for young children, and are filling it with creative concepts on their website and special monthly events tailored for tots.
LE was fortunate to attend the Lorax event on Earth Day {while mommy and daddy enjoyed our post-tax getaway thanks to Nana and Papa}.
Her planted seeds are sprouting on our front patio now...
She is enamored with storytelling...

What a perfect event combining art and science, literature and learning with good old fashioned fun. We can't wait for the May event!
